It just amazes me how much Horse power foreign car makers can sqeeze out of small displacment V-8's compared to American V-8s which require larger displacement for the same amount of HP. The Ford 4.6 V-8 and the GM LS1 5.7 V-8 are great engines but produce less horspower per cubic inche compared to BMW and others like the Lexus V-8 that is my GS400 with 300HP and 4 liters. It's all about technology and breathing .
